A Two Day Break in the World Cup

We have a two day break in the World Cup matches. It starts again on Friday. Germany plays Argentina on Friday. It could be a great match.

Seven of the usual suspects and tournament favorites made it into the quarterfinals. Ukraine is the exception.

France has come alive their last two matches. Could they upset Brazil? This is the last World Cup for Zidane, and Henry will be getting pretty old for a footballer the next Cup.

And England play Portugal.

England have been criminally boring this tournament but I have a feeling in my water - irrational, for sure - that we will see a good England this Saturday. And I have a weird feeling they are going to win the whole thing! I don't usually get that feeling...

I bloody hope so!

I think England has a real good shot despite their unfortunate string of injuries. They certainly have played the kind of defense to go all the way.

But very boringly...but, my conviction is growing (against all rational crteria) that England will end up in the final against...Germany! A repeat of the 1966 final.

Of course, I could look an idiot, saturday night (my time). England's problem has been coming up against teams that don't want to be beaten...now they will up against sides that will attack them...and that's whenh England (and premiership teams) are at their best.

That's my rationalization...keep ya fingers crossed.

beatroot,

I'd really like to see a Germany/England final too. Germany seems inspired from the home field advantage, and England has great talent even without Owen.

In fact, I'll make a real fool of myself by predicting Ukraine over Italy and France over Brazil this next round.
