A Stake in the Ground

Molly Ivins writes I will not support Hillary Clinton for President. I discovered it via pas au-dela.

Molly makes this remark about some Democratic politicians.

Do not sit there cowering and pretending the only way to win is as Republican-lite. If the Washington-based party can't get up and fight, we'll find someone who can.

I largely agree with Molly. Indirectly I've made such comments myself in my comments of embracing my desire to resurrect the pre-9/11 world, and denouncing fear.

I Like Harry Reid, Robert Byrd and Russ Feingold but have mixed feelings about Howard Dean and John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi. I distrust Hillary Clinton, and have lost faith in Kennedy, Biden and the old guard. I have hopes for young blood like Barack Obama.

But in the end -- when I dream fanciful happy dreams -- I wish for a new, independent, progressive party.

Edie,

I sometimes admire folks who kick a little ass where it is well deserved.
